Elementary School Expectations
Session 1: The Learning Environment – Measuring School & Student Progress, and ATLAS Parent Portal / ATLAS Connect
- Learn about district goals and the roles of the district leadership
- Learn about the goals that guide student learning, the learning environment, and grade-level standards.
- Review common core, how a classroom lesson is planned, and what you can do at home to support learning.
- Become familiar with the California Assessments used to measure student progress and the California Dashboard used to measure school/ district performance.
- Learn about Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBAC) and support resources to help assist your student.
- Learn about the district’s information system (ATLAS) and how parents and students track academic performance. Gain information on school choice and become familiar with the transfer application process and understand how Peachjar works.
Session 2: ATLAS Parent Portal / ATLAS Connect
- Learn how to access ATLAS Parent Portal to create a Family Account
- Become familiar with different features on ATLAS Connect
- Learn how to communicate with teachers through ATLAS Connect
- Provide hands-on opportunities for families
Session 3: Campus Culture, Attendance, and School Choice
- Gain understanding about the Safe and Civil Schools Initiative, bullying, Attendance, the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB), become familiar with CHAMPS, classroom management, and how to support your student during a crisis.

Session 4: Preparing Students for Success
Learn about the district’s information systems for parents and students to keep track of academic performance.
- An overview of FUSD English Learners
- Learn about the Home Language Survey
- Learn about English Language Development (ELD)
